We use Integrated
Pest Management (IPM) for our apples, to minimize the application of chemicals.
Besides
apples, we grow 15 varieties of peaches—500 trees that ripen from late July
through mid-September. If you haven't had a peach grown in Massachusetts, you
haven't tasted a peach!
We grow
5 varieties of pears, including Beurre Bosc and Sheldon, as well as an acre
of European and Asian plums. The plums ripen mid-August through mid-September
and include Santa Rosa, Redheart, Elephant Heart, Blue Free, and
Stanley. We'll be adding new varieties in 2004. We
also have 1 1/2 acres of blueberries
and raspberries, which ripen mid-July through August.
Let's not neglect the vegetables! We grow a
full line, from delicious sweet corn to mouthwatering tomatoes. And to
decorate your table or give to your sweetheart, we grow assorted
flowers, including Dahlias, Snapdragons, Asters, Zinnias, Sweet Peas,
and flowers for drying. We're experimenting with Lavender and Peonies
and expect to have full production soon!
